Abstract
Described herein are systems and methods for providing personalized oral irrigation. One variation of a system for personalized oral irrigation comprises a fluid reservoir and a customized oral insert in fluid communication with the fluid reservoir. The oral insert comprises an arrangement of fluid openings positioned based on the individual oral or dental structures of a user's teeth to provide a customized fluid flow over the user's teeth. Also described herein are methods for generating an arrangement of fluid openings in a customized oral insert.
Claims21
A customized system for oral irrigation comprising:
- a fluid reservoir;
- and
- a customized oral insert in fluid communication with the fluid reservoir, wherein the customized oral insert comprises a plurality of manifolds in fluid communication with the fluid reservoir and an arrangement of fluid openings positioned to provide a fluid flow customized to one or more teeth of a specific user, wherein a shape and size of the arrangement of fluid openings and the plurality of manifolds are customized to at least one characteristic of the one or more teeth and/or gingiva of the specific user;
- and
- a fluid switcher in fluid communication with the fluid reservoir and the plurality of manifolds, wherein the fluid switcher is configured to cycle fluid flow individually into each manifold of the plurality of manifolds,
- wherein a first manifold is configured to direct fluid flow to a first set of teeth and a second manifold is configure to direct fluid flow to a second set of teeth that are mesial relative to the first set of teeth,
- wherein the first and second set of teeth are mandibular teeth, or the first and second set of teeth are maxillary teeth.
