Abstract
A system for use during a surgical procedure includes a control unit configured to obtain a first anatomical characteristic of a patient; measure a second anatomical characteristic of a patient; create a targeted second anatomical characteristic; and convert at least one of the measured second anatomical characteristic and the targeted second anatomical characteristics to a patient position.
Claims18
A method for use during a surgical procedure, the method comprising:
- obtaining, with a processing system, a value of a pelvic incidence angle of a patient;
- measuring, with the processing system, a first value of a sacral slope of the patient;
- creating, with the processing system, a value of a targeted sacral slope for the patient using a geometric relationship between the value of the pelvic incidence angle and a desired pelvic tilt for the patient;
- providing, with the processing system and at a user interface, an instruction to a user for converting a patient position to a modified patient position having the targeted value of the sacral slope by anteverting the patient's pelvis;
- and
- while the patient's pelvis is being anteverted or after anteverting the patent's pelvis:
- measuring, with the processing system, a second value of the sacral slope of the patient;
- and
- providing, with the processing system and at the user interface, an indication of whether the second value the sacral slope has reached the value of the targeted sacral slope.

A non-transitory, tangible machine readable storage medium having instructions thereon that, when executed by a processing system, causes the processing system to:
- obtain a value of a pelvic incidence angle of a patient;
- measure a first value of a sacral slope of the patient;
- create a value of a targeted sacral slope for the patient using a geometric relationship between the value of the pelvic incidence angle and a desired pelvic tilt for the patient;
- provide, at a user interface, an instruction to a user for converting a patient position to a modified patient position having the targeted value of the sacral slope by anteverting the patient's pelvis;
- and
- during or after anteverting the patient's pelvis:
- measure a second value of the sacral slope of the patient;
- and
- provide at the user interface an indication of whether the second value the sacral slope has reached the value of the targeted sacral slope.
