Abstract
A tailings return system for use in a combine harvester includes a tailings conveyor having an upper part and a lower part. The upper part is hingedly connected to the lower part, allowing the upper part to be folded back against the lower part to create an open space in the combine harvester, facilitating access to other components within the combine harvester.

A tailings return system in a combine harvester, the combine harvester comprising a frame having a side wall that extends generally parallel to a normal forward direction of travel, and the tailings return system comprising:
- a tailings conveyor mounted externally of the side wall and extending from a tailings collection channel to a tailings ejection channel, the tailings conveyor comprising:
- a lower part;
- an upper part;
- and
- a hinge that hingedly connects the upper part to the lower part.
