Abstract
A topsheet for an absorbent article is provided and has at least a first layer. The first layer comprises at least 15% by weight of natural fibers by total weight of the first layer. The first layer has a plurality of apertures. The first layer comprises land areas between a majority of the apertures. The contact angle on the land areas of the first layer between the majority of the apertures is more than 70° according to the contact angle test method. The topsheet has a run-off of less than 40% according to the run-off test method.
Claims18
A topsheet for an absorbent article, the topsheet comprising at least a first layer, wherein the first layer has a first surface and an opposing second surface and comprises at least 15% by weight of natural fibers by total weight of the first layer;
- wherein the first layer defines a plurality of apertures;
- wherein the first layer comprises land areas between a majority of the apertures;
- wherein a First Surface Land Area Contact Angle on the land areas of the first surface of the first layer between the majority of the apertures is more than 70°, according to a Contact Angle Test Method described herein;
- and
- wherein the topsheet has a run-off of less than 40%, according to a Run-off Test Method described herein;
- wherein the topsheet has a second layer with a first surface and an opposing second surface, wherein the second layer has a plurality of apertures and land areas between a majority of the apertures, wherein the first surface of the second layer is in a face to face relationship with the second surface of the first layer, such that the plurality of the apertures of the second layer are aligned with the plurality of the apertures of the first layer, and wherein the first layer and the second layer are in contact with and joined to each other in the land areas of the first and second layers;
- wherein the plurality of the apertures of the first layer at least partially penetrate the plurality of the apertures of the second layer;
- wherein the second layer comprises synthetic fibers, natural fibers and/or combinations thereof;
- and
- wherein the synthetic fibers are single component fibers, multi-component fibers, and/or combinations thereof.
A topsheet for an absorbent article comprising at least a first layer, wherein the first layer has a first surface and an opposing second surface and comprises at least 80% by weight of natural fibers by total weight of the first layer, wherein the first layer comprises from 5% to 40% by weight of hydrophilic fibers selected from the group of synthetic fibers, natural fibers and/or combinations thereof, and from 60% to 95% by weight of hydrophobic natural fibers by total weight of the first layer,
- wherein the first layer defines a plurality of apertures;
- wherein the topsheet has a run-off of less than 40%, according to a Run-off Test Method described herein;
- wherein the topsheet has a second layer with a first surface and an opposing second surface, wherein the second layer has a plurality of apertures and land areas between a majority of the apertures, wherein the first surface of the second layer is in a face to face relationship with the second surface of the first layer, such that the plurality of the apertures of the second layer are aligned with the plurality of the apertures of the first layer, and wherein the first layer and the second layer are in contact with and joined to each other in the land areas of the first and second layers;
- wherein the plurality of the apertures of the first layer at least partially penetrate the plurality of the apertures of the second layer;
- wherein the second layer comprises synthetic fibers, natural fibers and/or combinations thereof;
- and
- wherein the synthetic fibers are single component fibers, multi-component fibers, and/or combinations thereof.
A topsheet for an absorbent article, the topsheet comprising at least a first layer, wherein the first layer has a first surface and an opposing second surface and comprises at least 80% by weight of cotton fibers by total weight of the first layer;
- wherein the first layer defines a plurality of apertures;
- wherein the first layer comprises land areas between a majority of the apertures;
- wherein a First Surface Land Area Contact Angle on the land areas of the first surface of the first layer between the majority of the apertures is more than 70°, according to a Contact Angle Test Method described herein;
- wherein the topsheet has a run-off of less than 40%, according to a Run-off Test Method described herein;
- wherein the topsheet has a second layer with a first surface and an opposing second surface, wherein the second layer has a plurality of apertures and land areas between a majority of the apertures, wherein the first surface of the second layer is in a face to face relationship with the second surface of the first layer, such that the plurality of the apertures of the second layer are aligned with the plurality of the apertures of the first layer, and wherein the first layer and the second layer are in contact with and joined to each other in the land areas of the first and second layers;
- wherein the plurality of the apertures of the first layer at least partially penetrate the plurality of the apertures of the second layer;
- wherein the second layer comprises synthetic fibers, natural fibers and/or combinations thereof;
- and
- wherein the synthetic fibers are single component fibers, multi-component fibers, and/or combinations thereof.
