Abstract
An electrical balance duplexer has multiple impedance gradients and multiple impedance tuners. The electrical balance duplexer transmits an outgoing signal from a transmitter during a transmission mode when a first set of impedance gradients of the multiple impedance gradients is operating in a first impedance state and a first set of impedance tuners of the multiple impedance tuners is operating in a second state. The electrical balance duplexer isolates the outgoing signal from a receiver during the transmission mode when a second set of impedance gradients of the multiple impedance gradients and a second set of impedance tuners of the multiple impedance tuners are operating in the second impedance state.

An electronic device, comprising:
- an antenna;
- a transmitter port configured to provide a transmission signal from transmitting circuitry;
- a receiver port configured to provide a reception signal to receiving circuitry;
- and
- a duplexer comprising
- a first set of impedance gradients and impedance tuners configured to couple and uncouple the transmitter port to and from the antenna, the first set of impedance gradients and impedance tuners having a first impedance gradient, a second impedance gradient, a first impedance tuner, and a second impedance tuner, wherein
- the first impedance gradient, the first impedance tuner, and the antenna are coupled at a first node,
- the second impedance gradient, the first impedance tuner, and the transmitter port are coupled at a second node,
- the first impedance gradient, the second impedance tuner, and the transmitter port are coupled at a third node, and
- the second impedance gradient and the second impedance tuner are coupled at a fourth node, and
- a second set of impedance gradients and impedance tuners configured to couple and uncouple the receiver port to and from the antenna, the second set of impedance gradients and impedance tuners having a third impedance gradient, a fourth impedance gradient, a third impedance tuner, and a fourth impedance tuner, wherein
- the third impedance gradient, the third impedance tuner, and the fourth node are coupled at a fifth node,
- the fourth impedance gradient, the third impedance tuner, and the receiver port are coupled at a sixth node,
- the third impedance gradient, the fourth impedance tuner, and the receiver port are coupled at a seventh node, and
- the fourth impedance gradient, the fourth impedance tuner, and a ground terminal are coupled at an eighth node.
An electrical duplexer comprising:
- a first set of impedance gradients and impedance tuners configured to couple and uncouple a transmitter port to and from at least one antenna, the first set of impedance gradients and impedance tuners comprising a first impedance gradient, a second impedance gradient, a first impedance tuner, and a second impedance tuner;
- and
- a second set of impedance gradients and impedance tuners configured to couple and uncouple a receiver port to and from the at least one antenna, the second set of impedance gradients and impedance tuners comprising a third impedance gradient, a fourth impedance gradient, a third impedance tuner, and a fourth impedance tuner.
A method, comprising:
- setting, via one or more processors, a first impedance gradient and a second impedance gradient of a first set of impedance devices to a first impedance state;
- setting, via one or more processors, a first impedance tuner and a second impedance tuner of the first set of impedance devices to a second impedance state, causing a transmitter port to couple to at least one antenna;
- setting, via the one or more processors, a second set of impedance devices to the second impedance state, causing a receiver port to uncouple from the at least one antenna;
- and
- transmitting data from the transmitter port using the at least one antenna.
