Magneto optic disk imager

A system, comprising:

• one or more processors;
• and
• memory including executable instructions that, if executed by the one or more processors, cause the system to:
• obtain servo information from an image that represents a magnetic state of a portion of magnetic media, the image created by combining at least two partly overlapping images obtained from a magneto-optic sensor;
• use the servo information to determine a region of the image that represents user data stored on the portion of magnetic media;
• determine the user data represented by the region;
• and
• provide the user data.

A system, comprising:

• one or more processors;
• and
• memory including executable instructions that, if executed by the one or more processors, cause the system to:
• obtain servo information from an image that represents a magnetic state of a portion of magnetic media;
• use the servo information to determine a region of the image that represents user data stored on the portion of magnetic media;
• determine the user data represented by the region;
• provide the user data;
• wherein:
• the portion of magnetic media is a magnetic tape wound on a source reel;
• and
• a magneto-optic image sensor is positioned to capture the image prior to the portion of magnetic media being unwound from the source reel.

A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium having stored thereon executable instructions that, if executed by one or more processors of a computer system, cause the computer system to at least:

• obtain an image that represents the magnetic state of a portion of magnetic media, the image created by combining at least two partly overlapping images obtained from a magneto-optic sensor;
• identify, within the image, servo information on the portion of magnetic media;
• based at least in part on the servo information, identify a region of the image that represents user data stored on the portion of magnetic media;
• determine the user data represented by the region;
• and
• provide the user data.
