A method of manufacturing an electric current supply system at least partially submerged in an electrically conductive liquid, comprising at least one electrically conductive component enveloped in liquid-tight material, wherein the at least one electrically conductive component comprising sacrificial material that is capable of reacting electrochemically with the liquid in the event that the liquid-tight material is damaged and the liquid is allowed to reach the at least one electrically conductive component, and the method comprising providing the at least one electrically conductive component with at least one gas trap portion at which the sacrificial material of the at least one electrically conductive component is configured to occupy a space in the liquid-tight material that is defined with a shape that is designed for trapping gas that is generated in the said event as the sacrificial material of the at least one electrically conductive component disappearing at the position where the sacrificial material reacts electrochemically with the liquid, and enveloping the at least one electrically conductive component in the liquid-tight material.
