Lighting system and sensor platform for controlled agricultural environments

A lighting and sensing system for a controlled agricultural environment, the system comprising:

• a plurality of lighting fixtures, each lighting fixture comprising:
• a housing;
• at least one light source mechanically supported by the housing;
• control circuitry to receive AC power, to convert the AC power to DC power, and to control the at least one light source based at least in part on the DC power, the control circuitry further comprising a network board including at least one Ethernet switch to facilitate communications in the lighting and sensing system;
• and
• at least one port, coupled to the control circuitry, to receive sensor data;
• and
• at least one remote computer, communicatively coupled to the network board of each lighting fixture of the plurality of lighting fixtures, to individually control a percent dimming of photosynthetically active radiation (PAR) output by the at least one light source of each lighting fixture.

A lighting and sensing system for controlled environment agriculture (CEA) in a growing area, the system comprising:

• a lighting fixture, comprising:
• a housing;
• at least one light source mechanically supported by the housing;
• control circuitry to control the at least one light source;
• and
• at least one port, coupled to the control circuitry, to receive sensor data;
• and
• at least three sensors coupled to the lighting fixture via the at least one port, to provide the sensor data to the lighting fixture, the at least three sensors comprising:
• a CO2 sensor;
• a relative humidity sensor;
• and
• an air temperature sensor,
• wherein the control circuitry is configured to receive the sensor data, when present, from the at least three sensors and use the sensor data to adjust at least one environmental condition in the growing area to provide a target vapor pressure deficit in the growing area.
