## Abstract

This disclosure relates to pharmaceutical compositions and formulations useful for inhibiting the progression of glycine encephalopathy. The pharmaceutical compositions and formulations may include glyceryl tribenzoate. The pharmaceutical compositions and formulations may include glyceryl dibenzoate. The pharmaceutical compositions and formulations may be orally administered to the patient.

## Claims

### Claim 1

A method for inhibiting the progression of glycine encephalopathy, comprising: administering to a patient in need thereof an effective amount of a pharmaceutical composition comprising glyceryl tribenzoate.

### Claim 2 (depends on 1)

The method of claim 1, wherein the pharmaceutical composition is administered to the patient one time per day.

### Claim 3 (depends on 1)

The method of claim 1, wherein the effective amount is from about 1.25 grams to about 15 grams per day, based on a 50 kg patient.

### Claim 4 (depends on 1)

The method of claim 1, wherein the pharmaceutical composition is formulated together with a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier or excipient.

### Claim 5 (depends on 1)

The method of claim 1, wherein the pharmaceutical composition is administered orally.

### Claim 6 (depends on 1)

The method of claim 1, wherein the composition comprises glyceryl dibenzoate.

### Claim 7

A method for inhibiting the progression of glycine encephalopathy, comprising: administering to a patient in need thereof an effective amount of a pharmaceutical composition comprising glyceryl dibenzoate.

### Claim 8 (depends on 7)

The method of claim 7, wherein the composition comprises glyceryl tribenzoate.

### Claim 9 (depends on 7)

The method of claim 7, wherein the pharmaceutical composition is administered to the patient one time per day.

### Claim 10 (depends on 7)

The method of claim 7, wherein the effective amount is from about 1.25 grams to about 15 grams per day, based on a 50 kg patient.

### Claim 11 (depends on 7)

The method of claim 7, wherein the pharmaceutical composition is formulated together with a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier or excipient.

### Claim 12 (depends on 7)

The method of claim 7, wherein the pharmaceutical composition is administered orally.

### Claim 13

A method of using a formulation for inhibiting the progression of glycine encephalopathy, comprising: administering to a patient in need thereof an effective amount of the formulation, the formulation comprising about 1 gram/1 ml of glyceryl tribenzoate.

### Claim 14 (depends on 13)

The method of claim 13, wherein the formulation is selected from the group consisting of a sustained-release formulation and a delayed-release formulation.

### Claim 15 (depends on 13)

The method of claim 13, wherein the formulation is administered orally to the patient.

### Claim 16 (depends on 13)

The method of claim 13, wherein from about 1.25 grams to about 15 grams per day, based on a 50 kg patient, of the glyceryl tribenzoate are administered to the patient.
