## Claims

### Claim 1

A method for mitigating contamination of a surface by particles of at least a coronavirus for which an enveloped bacterial virus having a lipid-rich viral membrane envelope is a biological surrogate, comprising:
applying an anti-viral functionalized coating composition on a surface of a substrate to create an anti-viral functionalized surface thereof, wherein the anti-viral functionalized coating composition comprises an effective amount of an anti-viral additive admixed with a specified amount of a polymeric coating composition, wherein the anti-viral additive comprises antimicrobial peptide and lipolytic enzyme, wherein said antimicrobial peptide comprises SEQ ID NO. 40, wherein the effective amount of said antimicrobial peptide and the specified amount of said lipolytic enzyme jointly cause the anti-viral functionalized surface to provide an additive-induced amount of infective particles of the biological surrogate when the biological surrogate is brought into contact with the anti-viral functionalized surface that is at least 70% less than a baseline amount of infective particles of the biological surrogate, wherein a surface of a layer of the polymeric coating composition on the surface of the substrate supports presence of the baseline amount of infective particles of the biological surrogate when the biological surrogate is brought into contact with the surface of the layer of the polymeric coating composition.

### Claim 2 (depends on 1)

The method of claim 1 wherein the infective particles of the biological surrogate are infective PHI-6 bacteriophage particles.

### Claim 3 (depends on 1)

The method of claim 1 wherein said lipolytic enzyme comprises lipase.

### Claim 4 (depends on 3)

The method of claim 3 wherein the anti-viral functionalized coating composition provides an additive-induced amount of infective particles of the biological surrogate brought into contact with the anti-viral functionalized surface that is at least 80% less than the baseline amount of infective particles of the biological surrogate.

### Claim 5 (depends on 4)

The method of claim 4 wherein the infective particles of the biological surrogate are infective PHI-6 bacteriophage particles.

### Claim 6 (depends on 3)

The method of claim 1 wherein:
the infective particles of the biological surrogate are infective PHI-6 bacteriophage particles; and
said lipolytic enzyme comprises lipase.

### Claim 9 (depends on 8)

The method of claim 8 wherein the polymeric coating composition comprises water-based polyurethane.

### Claim 10 (depends on 8)

The method of claim 8 wherein:
