Abstract
A static mixer for desalting a fluid is disclosed. A static mixer can include a housing, a reduction cone disposed concentrically within the housing; and an expansion cone disposed concentrically within the housing; wherein the static mixer is configured to direct fluid flow through the reduction cone onto the expansion cone, thereby mixing the fluid.
Claims19
A static mixer comprising:
- a housing having a first cross-sectional flow area;
- a reduction cone disposed concentrically within the housing, wherein the reduction cone has a reduced cross-sectional flow area relative to the first cross-sectional flow area;
- and
- an expansion cone disposed concentrically within the housing adjacent to the reduction cone, wherein the expansion cone has a same or smaller cross-sectional flow area relative to the reduced cross-sectional flow area;
- wherein the static mixer is configured to direct a fluid flow through the reduction cone onto the expansion cone when fluid is flowing through the housing,
- wherein the reduction cone comprises a flow-in opening and a flow-out opening,
- wherein the reduction cone further comprises a grommet positioned at a circumference of the flow-out opening, and
- wherein the grommet is configured to prevent backflow along an exterior surface of the reduction cone.
5 more elements
A static mixer comprising:
- a housing;
- a reduction cone disposed concentrically within the housing;
- an expansion cone disposed concentrically within the housing;
- and
- a plurality of blades disposed within the housing, wherein the expansion cone is disposed between the reduction cone and the plurality of blades in the housing;
- wherein the reduction cone is configured to increase a velocity of the fluid, wherein the expansion cone is configured to distribute the fluid, and wherein the plurality of blades are configured to rotate the fluid.
