Abstract
A dental cleaning appliance includes a fluid reservoir for storing working fluid, a nozzle for delivering working fluid to the teeth of a user, a light source for illuminating the fluid reservoir and a control circuit for activating the light source to generate an alert which is conveyed to the user through the illumination of the fluid reservoir.
Claims24
A dental cleaning appliance comprising:
- a handle;
- a fluid reservoir for storing working fluid;
- a fluid delivery system for receiving fluid from the fluid reservoir and delivering a burst of working fluid to the teeth of the user during use, the fluid delivery system comprising a nozzle for delivering the burst of working fluid to the teeth of a user;
- a light source located within the handle and external to the fluid reservoir for illuminating at least part of the fluid reservoir for observation by a user;
- a light pipe located within the handle between the light source and the fluid reservoir for conveying light emitted from the light source towards the fluid reservoir for illuminating the at least part of the fluid reservoir;
- a light emitting surface located on an end surface of the handle which faces the fluid reservoir, the light emitting surface emitting light emitted from the light source and conveyed by the light pipe towards the fluid reservoir for illuminating the at least part of the fluid reservoir;
- and
- a control circuit for activating the light source.
A dental cleaning appliance comprising:
- a handle;
- a fluid reservoir for storing working fluid;
- a fluid delivery system for receiving fluid from the fluid reservoir and delivering a burst of working fluid to the teeth of the user during use, the fluid delivery system comprising a nozzle for delivering the burst of working fluid to the teeth of a user;
- a stem extending between the handle and the nozzle, wherein the handle comprises a spigot for detachably connecting the stem to the handle, and wherein the fluid reservoir surrounds at least a portion of the spigot;
- a light source located within the handle and external to the fluid reservoir for illuminating at least part of the fluid reservoir for observation by a user;
- a light pipe located within the handle between the light source and the fluid reservoir for conveying light emitted from the light source towards the fluid reservoir for illuminating the at least part of the fluid reservoir;
- and
- a control circuit for activating the light source.

- and
- a control circuit for activating the light source;
- wherein the handle comprises a light emitting surface located on an end surface of the handle which faces the fluid reservoir, and wherein the fluid reservoir covers the light emitting surface of the handle.
