Silicon-based energy storage devices with fluorinated cyclic compound containing electrolyte additives

An energy storage device comprising:

• a first electrode and a second electrode, wherein at least one of the first electrode and the second electrode is a Si-based electrode;
• a separator between the first electrode and the second electrode;
• an electrolyte;
• and
• at least one electrolyte additive comprising a compound selected from the group consisting of Formulae (A), (B), (C) and (G):
• wherein:
• each R1, R2, R3, R4, R5, and R6 is independently selected from the group consisting of —H, —F, and a C1-C8 alkyl substituted by F;
• wherein, in Formula (A), at least one of R1, R2, R3 or R4 is —F or a C1-C8 alkyl substituted by F;
• wherein, in Formula (B), at least one of R1 or R2 is —F or a C1-C8 alkyl substituted by F;
• wherein, in Formula (C), at least one of R1, R2, R3, R4, R5 or R6 is —F or a C1-C8 alkyl substituted by F;
• and
• wherein, in Formula (G), each R11, R12, and R13 is —H or a C1-C8 alkyl substituted by F, wherein at least one of R11, R12, or R13 is a C1-C8 alkyl substituted by F.
