Abstract
The present invention concerns yarn comprising polymer, the polymer comprising imidazole groups, the yarn having a sulfur content of 0.01 to 3.0 percent by weight, based on weight of the yarn, the yarn having a tenacity of 30 cN/dtex (33.3 gpd) or higher.
Claims10
A yarn comprising aramid copolymer, said copolymer comprising protonated imidazole groups containing associated sulfate anions, the yarn having a sulfur content of 0.1 to 3 percent by weight, based on weight of the yarn, the yarn having been spun from a spin dope containing sulfuric acid, the yarn having a tenacity of 32 cN/dtex (35.6 gpd) or higher;
- wherein the yarn has not been washed or neutralized with a base that fully dissociates in aqueous solution.
