Abstract
A cleaner and a method for controlling the same. The cleaner includes a brush module comprising a brush configured to scatter foreign substances on a floor, and a brush motor configured to rotate the brush. The cleaner includes a suction module configured to suction the foreign substances; a sensor configured to detect a load applied to the brush; and a controller configured to control suction force of the suction module based on the load detected by the sensor.

A cleaner comprising:
- a brush module comprising:
- a brush configured to scatter foreign substances on a floor, and
- a brush motor configured to rotate the brush;
- a suction fan configured to suction the foreign substances;
- a sensor configured to detect, at intervals of a predetermined time, a load applied to the brush, wherein the load applied to the brush varies based on a type of the floor;
- and
- a controller configured to automatically control a suction force of the suction fan based on the load detected by the sensor.

A method of controlling a cleaner comprising:
- cleaning a floor using a suction fan assembly comprising a suction fan and a suction motor configured to provide the suction fan with driving power and a brush module comprising a brush configured to scatter foreign substances on the floor and a brush motor configured to rotate the brush;
- detecting a load applied to the brush, the load detected at intervals of a predetermined time, wherein the load varies based on a type of the floor;
- and
- controlling a suction force of the suction fan assembly based on the load applied to the brush.
