Abstract
A mattress assembly includes a chassis having top and bottom walls and first and second sidewalls that each extend from the top wall to the bottom wall. Inner surfaces of the walls and the sidewalls define an interior cavity. The top and bottom walls each include a first section that is connected to the first sidewall and a second section that is connected to the second sidewall such that the first sections are pivotable relative to the first sidewall and the second sections are pivotable relative to the second sidewall. The first section of the top wall is pivotable relative to the second section of the top wall and the first section of the bottom wall is pivotable relative to the second section of the bottom wall. A spring assembly is configured to be positioned within the interior cavity.

A bedding system comprising:
- a chassis comprising a bottom wall, opposite first and second side walls extending from the bottom wall and opposite first and second end walls each extending from the bottom wall and from the first side wall to the second side wall such that the end walls are movable relative to the side walls, the end walls and the side walls each being permanently coupled to the bottom wall, a top surface of the bottom wall and inner surfaces of the end walls and the side walls defining a cavity;
- a cover covering outer surfaces of the side walls and the end walls;
- a first spring pack positioned in the cavity such that the first spring pack is positioned alongside the end walls and the first side wall;
- a second spring pack positioned in the cavity such that the second spring pack is positioned alongside the end walls and the second side wall;
- and
- a topper positioned over the spring packs, the topper being attached to the cover by a second zipper.
A bedding system comprising:
- a chassis comprising a bottom wall, opposite first and second side walls extending from the bottom wall and opposite first and second end walls each extending from the bottom wall and from the first side wall to the second side wall such that the end walls are movable relative to the side walls, the end walls and the side walls each being permanently coupled to the bottom wall, the walls defining a cavity;
- a cover covering outer surfaces of the side walls and the end walls, the cover comprising a first row of teeth and a second row of teeth;
- a first spring pack positioned in the cavity alongside the side walls extending continuously between a proximal wall that directly contacts the first end wall and an opposite distal wall that directly contacts the second end wall, the first spring pack defining a pocket extending continuously from the proximal wall to the distal wall;
- a second spring pack positioned in the cavity such that the second spring pack is positioned alongside the end walls and the second side wall;
- a barrier layer positioned over the spring packs, the barrier layer comprising a fourth third row of teeth that engages the first row of teeth to define a first zipper that attaches the barrier layer to the cover;
- a topper positioned over the barrier layer, the topper comprising a fourth row of teeth that engages the second row of teeth to define a second zipper that attaches the topper to the cover;
- and
- an outer layer positioned over the topper such that the outer layer is coupled directly to the cover.
A bedding system comprising:
- a chassis comprising a bottom wall, opposite first and second side walls extending upwardly from the bottom wall and opposite first and second end walls each extending upwardly from the bottom wall and from the first side wall to the second side wall such that the end walls are movable relative to the side walls, the end walls and the side walls each being permanently coupled to the bottom wall, the walls defining a cavity;
- a cover covering outer surfaces of the side walls and the end walls, the cover comprising a first row of teeth and a second row of teeth;
- first and second spring packs disposed in the cavity, the first spring pack being removable from the cavity independent of the second spring pack, the spring packs each extending continuously between a proximal wall that directly contacts the first end wall and an opposite distal wall that directly contacts the second end wall, the spring packs each defining a pocket extending continuously from the proximal wall to the distal wall, the spring packs each including a plurality of springs disposed in the pocket;
- a barrier layer positioned over the spring packs, the barrier layer comprising a third row of teeth that engages the first row of teeth to define a first zipper that attaches the barrier layer to the cover;
- a topper positioned over the barrier layer, the topper comprising a fourth row of teeth that engages the second row of teeth to define a second zipper that attaches the topper to the cover;
- and
- an outer layer positioned over the topper such that the outer layer is removably coupled to the cover.
A bedding system comprising:
- a chassis comprising a bottom wall, opposite first and second side walls extending upwardly from the bottom wall and opposite first and second end walls each extending upwardly from the bottom wall and from the first side wall to the second side wall such that the end walls are movable relative to the side walls, the end walls and the side walls each being permanently coupled to the bottom wall, a top surface of the bottom wall and inner surfaces of the side walls and end walls defining a cavity;
- a cover covering outer surfaces of the walls;
- a first spring pack positioned in the cavity;
- a second spring pack positioned in the cavity, the spring packs each extending continuously between a proximal wall that directly contacts the first end wall and an opposite distal wall that directly contacts the second end wall, the spring packs each defining a pocket extending continuously from the proximal wall to the distal wall, the spring packs each including a plurality of springs disposed in the pocket;
- a barrier layer positioned over the spring packs, the barrier layer being attached to the cover by a first removable coupler;
- a topper positioned over the barrier layer, the topper being attached to the cover by a second removable coupler;
- and
- an outer layer positioned over the topper such that the outer layer is removably attached directly to the cover.
