Antiviral benzodiazepine compounds

A compound of formula (I):

• wherein R1 is H;
• R2 is H;
• R3 is a side chain of a naturally occurring amino acid;
• and R4 is H;
• or R3 and R4, together with the atoms to which they are attached, combine to form a five-membered heterocyclic ring;
• R5 is an aromatic six membered ring optionally substituted with one or more substituents, wherein the or each substituent is independently a C1-5 straight or branched alkyl or alkenyl, a halogen, SR6, SO2R6, OR6, or NR6R7;
• m is 0, 1, 2, 3 or 4;
• n is 0, 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5;
• the or each X1 is independently selected from a C1-5 straight or branched alkyl or alkenyl, a halogen, SR6, SO2R6, OR6 or NR6R7;
• the or each X2 is independently selected from a C1-5 straight or branched alkyl or alkenyl, chlorine, bromine, SR6, SO2R6, OR6 or NR6R7;
• the or each R6 is independently selected from the group consisting of:
• hydrogen, a C1-5 straight or branched alkyl or alkenyl, C3-6 cycloalkyl or cycloalkenyl, C3-6 heterocyclyl or heteroaryl, C2-4 methane sulphonyl alkyl, C2-4 dialkylaminoalkyl and
• the or each R7 is independently selected from the group consisting of:
• hydrogen, a C1-5 straight or branched alkyl or alkenyl, C3-6 cycloalkyl or cycloalkenyl, C3-6 heterocyclyl or heteroaryl, C2-4 methane sulphonyl alkyl, C2-4 dialkylaminoalkyl and
• and/or R6 and R7 together with the nitrogen atom to which they are attached independently form a 3-7 membered ring which is optionally substituted with one or more substituents, wherein the or each substituent is independently a C1-5 straight or branched alkyl or alkenyl, a halogen, C(O)R10, SR10, SO2R10, OR10 or NR10R11;
• the or each R10 is independently selected from the group consisting of:
• hydrogen, a C1-5 straight or branched alkyl or alkenyl, C3-6 cycloalkyl or cycloalkenyl, C3-6 heterocyclyl or heteroaryl, C2-4 methane sulphonyl alkyl, C2-4 dialkylaminoalkyl and
• the or each R11 is independently selected from the group consisting of:
• hydrogen, a C1-5 straight or branched alkyl or alkenyl, C3-6 cycloalkyl or cycloalkenyl, C3-6 heterocyclyl or heteroaryl, C2-4 methane sulphonyl alkyl, C2-4 dialkylaminoalkyl and
• p is 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5;
• and
• R8 and R9 together with the nitrogen atom to which they are attached independently form a 3-7 membered ring;
• or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt, solvate, tautomeric form or polymorphic form thereof.
