Abstract
The invention provides a process to form an olefin-based polymer, said process comprising polymerizing at least one olefin in the presence of at least one catalyst system comprising the reaction product of the following: A) at least one cocatalyst; and B) a procatalyst comprising a metal-ligand complex of Formula (I), as described herein:
Claims3
A procatalyst comprising a metal-ligand complex of Formula (I):
- wherein:
- M is zirconium being in a formal oxidation state of +2, +3, or +4;
- and n is 0 to 3, and when n is 0, X is absent;
- and
- each X is independently selected from (C1-40)hydrocarbyl, (C1-40)heterohydrocarbyl, or halide;
- when n is 1, X is a monodentate ligand or a bidentate ligand;
- when n is 2, each X is an independently chosen monodentate ligand;
- the metal-ligand complex is overall charge-neutral;
- each Z is an oxygen atom
- L is —CH2— or —CH2CH2—;
- R21 and R22 are C;
- R2, R4, R5, R7, R8, R9, R10, R12, R13 and R15 are a hydrogen atom;
- R1 and R16 are independently selected from:
- R3 and R14 are independently a substituted or unsubstituted (C1-C40)hydrocarbyl;
- R6 and R11 are independently selected from the group consisting of a substituted or unsubstituted (C1-C40)hydrocarbyl, —CF3, and a halogen atom;
- R17, R18, R19, and R20 are a hydrogen atom or (C1-C40)hydrocarbyl;
- provided that when R17 is a hydrogen atom, R18 is a substituted or unsubstituted (C1-C40)hydrocarbyl;
- and
- when R19 is a hydrogen atom, R20 is a substituted or unsubstituted (C1-C40)hydrocarbyl;
- provided that when R1 and R16 are both 3,6-(di-tert-butyl)carbozyl, and R3 and R14 are tert-octyl, and R6 and R11 are fluorine, then R17 and R19 are not methyl or R18 and R20 are not methyl;
- and
- wherein, for Formula (I), one or more hydrogen atoms may optionally be substituted with one or more deuterium atoms.
