Abstract
Systems and methods of audio processing and control for improved audibility and performance in a parametric loudspeaker system. The parametric loudspeaker system includes a parametric loudspeaker providing a capacitive load, an output stage having a plurality of switches interconnected in a bridge configuration and connected to the capacitive load of the parametric loudspeaker, and a controller operative to generate a series of pulse width modulation (PWM) pulses, and to generate a plurality of control signals synchronized with the series of PWM pulses for switchingly controlling the plurality of switches in the bridge configuration, thereby driving the capacitive load of the parametric loudspeaker.
Claims15
An output stage for driving a parametric loudspeaker, the parametric loudspeaker having a capacitive load, the output stage comprising:
- at least one power source having a power source output;
- a plurality of switches configured and arranged in a bridge configuration to switchably connect the capacitive load between the power source output and a reference potential;
- a processor operative to generate a pulse width modulation (PWM) signal from an audio input signal;
- and
- a controller operative to generate a plurality of control signals synchronized with the PWM signal,
- wherein the plurality of control signals include a first control (BoffA) signal and a second control (BoffB) signal,
- wherein the controller is further operative to modulate the PWM signal with the first control signal and the second control signal to generate and apply a plurality of switching signals to the bridge configuration, and
- wherein the bridge configuration is configured, in response to application of the plurality of switching signals, to produce an output drive signal with reduced harmonics for driving the parametric loudspeaker.
