Abstract
Systems and methods are described for managing presentation of content. An action may be scheduled to occur at a first time within the presentation of the media asset, where the action may interrupt the presentation of the media asset. When a current presentation position is approaching the first time, an option to delay the action may be generated for presentation. In response to receiving selection of the option to delay the action, the action may be scheduled to occur at a later second time within the presentation of the media asset.
Claims16
A method of managing presentation of content, the method comprising:
- generating for presentation a media asset, wherein an action is scheduled to occur at a first time within the presentation of the media asset, and wherein the action interrupts the presentation of the media asset;
- generating for presentation, when a current presentation position is approaching the first time, an option to delay the action;
- identifying a user profile of a user consuming the media asset;
- computing a probability of user interaction with, or user consumption of, the action during a current segment of the presentation of the media asset, wherein the probability is computed based on a comparison of the user profile to at least one of a story line or subject of the current segment of the media asset, characters or objects of the current segment, a background of the current segment, audio or annotations of the current segment, or other details of the current segment;
- and
- in response to receiving selection of the option to delay the action, scheduling the action to occur at a later second time within the presentation of the media asset, wherein the later second time is selected based on the computed probability.
A system of managing presentation of content, the system comprising:
- control circuitry configured to:
- generate for presentation a media asset, wherein an action is scheduled to occur at a first time within the presentation of the media asset, and wherein the action interrupts the presentation of the media asset;
- generate for presentation, when a current presentation position is approaching the first time, an option to delay the action;
- identify a user profile of a user consuming the media asset;
- compute a probability of user interaction with, or user consumption of, the action during a current segment of the presentation of the media asset, wherein the probability is computed based on a comparison of the user profile to at least one of a story line or subject of the current segment of the media asset, characters or objects of the current segment, a background of the current segment, audio or annotations of the current segment, or other details of the current segment;
- and
- in response to receiving selection of the option to delay the action, schedule the action to occur at a later second time within the presentation of the media asset, wherein the later second time is selected based on the computed probability.
