Energy resource network

An energy system comprising:

• a plurality of energy-generation devices each capable of producing and delivering a quantum of energy and comprising a computing device having a processor configured to determine a quantum of energy available for supply and generate an offer message indicative of the quantum of energy available;
• a plurality of energy-consuming-devices each capable of accepting the quantum of energy from the energy-generation devices and comprising a processor configured to determine an available energy capacity and energy request message, and cryptographically-secure and record the energy request message on a publicly-available distributed ledger, wherein the publicly-available distributed ledger comprises a plurality of blocks of data, and each block of data comprises information representative of:
• one or more transaction records, and a cryptographic hash value of at least a part of a previous block in the ledger;
• a at least one remote computing device in data communication with the plurality of energy-generation devices and the plurality of energy-consuming devices, the at least one remote computing device managing the publicly-available distributed ledger, and being configured to at least:
• monitor offer messages from the plurality of energy-generation devices and energy request messages from the plurality of energy-consuming-devices;
• analyze energy consumption within the energy system;
• and
• facilitate delivery of offer messages and energy request messages between one or more energy-generation devices and energy-consuming-devices;
• and
• based on the delivered offer message or energy request message, execute a transaction between the respective one or more energy-generation devices or energy-consuming-devices to exchange the quanta of energy available, and a currency amount, wherein the executed transaction is cryptographically-secured and recorded on the publicly-available distributed ledger.
