Abstract
Embodiments of the subject matter described herein provide a wearable device enabling multi-finger gestures. The wearable device generally includes a first sensor, a second sensor and a controller. The first sensor can detect a first set of one or more movements of a first finger of a user. The second sensor can detect a second set of one or more movements of a second finger that is different from the first finger. The controller is configured to detect a multi-finger gesture by determining a relative movement between the first finger and the second finger based on the first and second sets of movements and to control a terminal device in association with the wearable devices based on the multi-finger gesture.
Claims19
A wearable device, comprising:
- a first sensor configured to detect a first movement of a first segment of a first finger, wherein the wearable device is worn on a second segment of the first finger and the first sensor is configured to use a first fiber to detect a first distance between the first sensor and the first segment of the first finger;
- a second sensor configured to detect a second movement of a first segment of the second finger, wherein the second sensor is configured to use a second fiber to detect a second distance between the second sensor and the first segment of the second finger;
- and
- a controller configured to:
- determine a relative movement between the first and second fingers based on the first movement and the second movement, wherein the relative movement defines a multi-finger gesture event;
- and
- control, based on the multi-finger gesture, at least one of an activation or a deactivation of one or more functions of a terminal device associated with the wearable device
- wherein the wearable device is of a ring shape.
A method implemented at a wearable device, comprising:
- detecting, using a first sensor comprising a first fiber, a first movement of a first segment of a first finger, wherein the wearable device is worn on a second segment of the first finger and the first fiber detects a first distance between the first sensor and the first segment of the first finger;
- detecting, using a second sensor comprising a second fiber, a second movement of a first segment of a second finger, wherein the second fiber detects a second distance between the second sensor and the first segment of the second finger, and wherein a combination of the first movement and the second movement define at least one of a sliding movement or a tapping movement between the first finger and the second finger;
- determining a relative movement between the first and second fingers based on the first movement and the second movement, wherein the relative movement defines a multi-finger gesture event;
- and
- controlling, based on the multi-finger gesture, activation or deactivation of one or more functions of a terminal device associated with the wearable device
- wherein the wearable device is of a ring shape.
A system comprising:
- a processor;
- and
- a memory storing instructions that when executed by the processor perform a set of operations comprising:
- detecting, by a first fiber of a wearable device, a first movement of a first segment of a first finger, wherein the wearable device is worn on a second segment of the first finger and the first fiber detects a first distance between the first sensor and the first segment of the first finger;
- detecting, by a second fiber of the wearable device, a second movement of a first segment of a second finger, wherein the second fiber detects a second distance between the second sensor and the first segment of the second finger;
- determining a relative movement between the first finger and the second finger based on the first movement and the second movement, wherein the relative movement defines a multi-finger gesture event;
- and
- controlling, based on the multi-finger gesture, activation or deactivation of one or more functions of a terminal device associated with the wearable device
- wherein the wearable device is of a ring shape.
