Closed-door night light

A lighting apparatus fixable to a door comprising:

• an illumination assembly comprising:
• a lighting element configured as a night light;
• a door position sensor;
• a control circuit communicatively coupled to the lighting element and the door position sensor, wherein the control circuit is configured to control an ON/OFF state of the lighting element based on one or more signals from the door position sensor, wherein the control circuit is configured to switch the lighting element from an OFF state to an ON state when the door is moved to a closed position, wherein the control circuit is configured to switch the lighting element from the ON state to the OFF state when the door is moved to an open position;
• and
• a housing configured to house the lighting element and the control circuit, wherein the housing is configured to be mechanically attachable to the door, wherein the housing runs alongside a length of an interior side of the door.
