Abstract
Disclosed herein are compositions and methods related to a packaging laminate comprising: a first polymeric layer comprising a polypropylene copolymer; and a second polymeric layer comprising a high density polyethylene (HDPE) resin with a coextruded ethyl vinyl alcohol (EVOH) compatibilizer.
Claims20
A packaging laminate consisting of:
- a. a first polymeric layer comprising a high density polyethylene (HDPE) resin and having a thickness of about 0.4 mils to about 2.5 mils;
- and
- b. a second polymeric layer comprising a high density polyethylene (HDPE) resin, about 5 to about 33 percent by weight of a metallocene catalyst (based on the weight of the second polymeric layer), ethyl vinyl alcohol (EVOH), and an EVOH compatibilizer, and having a thickness of about 1.25 mils to about 6 mils to comprise at least 60 percent of a total thickness of the laminate, wherein the EVOH and EVOH compatibilizer are present in a 1:1 ratio in the second polymeric layer, and wherein the laminate is recyclable to the same extent as #2 HDPE film.
A packaging laminate consisting of:
- a. a first polymeric layer comprising a high density polyethylene (HDPE) resin and having a thickness of about 0.4 mils to about 2.5 mils;
- and
- b. a second polymeric layer comprising a linear low density polyethylene (LLDPE) resin, a metallocene catalyst in an amount of about 5 percent to about 33 percent by weight of the second polymeric layer, ethyl vinyl alcohol (EVOH), and an EVOH compatibilizer, and having a thickness of about 1.25 mils to about 6 mils to comprise at least about 60 percent of a total thickness of the laminate, wherein the EVOH and EVOH compatibilizer are present in a 1:1 ratio in the second polymeric layer, and wherein the laminate is recyclable to the same extent as #4 LLDPE film.
A packaging container comprising
- a packaging laminate consisting of:
- a. a first polymeric layer comprising a high density polyethylene (HDPE) resin;
- and
- b. a second polymeric layer comprising a high density polyethylene (HDPE) resin, a metallocene catalyst present in an amount of about 5 percent to about 33 percent by weight by weight of the second polymeric layer, ethyl vinyl alcohol (EVOH), and an EVOH compatibilizer, wherein the EVOH and EVOH compatibilizer are present in the second polymeric layer in a 1:1 ratio, wherein the second polymeric layer has a thickness at least about 51 percent of a total thickness of the laminate, and wherein the laminate is recyclable to the same extent as #2 HDPE film;
- and
- a degassing valve.
