Examining device for processing and analyzing an image

An examining method for processing and analyzing an image of a bio sample, for digital pathology, the method comprising:

• a) providing a microscopic image of a bio sample, wherein the bio sample is a tissue sample,
• b) indicating a region of interest in the image as a reference region,
• c) detecting nuclei and extracting at least one of a cell and tissue characteristic of the reference region from the image, wherein the at least one of the cell and tissue characteristic comprises a percentage of tumor cells in the region of interest and a percentage of lymphocytes estimated from a number of nuclei in the region of interest,
• d) analyzing the image for alternative regions with a similar characteristic to the at least one of the cell and tissue characteristic extracted from the reference region, and
• e) displaying a result of an analysis for alternative regions with a similar characteristic.

An examining device for processing and analyzing an image of a bio sample, comprising:

• an interface configured to provide an image of a tissue sample;
• an image analyzing unit configured to:
• provide an image of a bio sample;
• indicate a region of interest in the image as a reference region;
• and extract at least one of a cell and tissue characteristic of the reference region from the image to analyze the image for alternative regions with a similar characteristic to the at least one of the cell and tissue characteristic extracted from the reference region, wherein the at least one of the cell and tissue characteristic comprises a percentage of tumor cells in the region of interest and a percentage of lymphocytes estimated from a number of nuclei in the region of interest;
• a monitor configured to display a result of an analysis for alternative regions with a similar characteristic;
• and
• a nuclei detection unit is configured to detect nuclei.
