Abstract
Provided are a system and method for identifying a transaction as a card on file payment transaction. The method may include receiving an authorization request message for a transaction from a merchant computing device, detecting payment account information and an identifier which are included in the authorization request message, where the identifier identifies the payment account information as being from a payment account on file, and authorizing the transaction based on the detected payment account information and the detected identifier.
Claims20
An apparatus comprising:
- a network interface configured to receive a request message;
- and
- a processor configured to detect payment account information within the request message and a card-on-file identifier within the request message which uniquely identifies the payment account information as a payment account stored on file and process a transaction associated with the payment account information based on the detected card-on-file identifier.
A method comprising:
- receiving a request to process a transaction;
- detecting that the transaction is for a payment account stored on file;
- generating a request message comprising the payment account information and a card-on-file identifier which uniquely identifies the payment account information as stored on file;
- and
- transmitting the generated request message to a computing system.
A method comprising:
- receiving a request message;
- detecting payment account information within the request message and a card-on-file identifier within the request message which uniquely identifies the payment account information as a payment account stored on file;
- and
- processing a transaction associated with the payment account information based on the detected card-on-file identifier.
