System and method for automatic recovery of information handling systems

An information handling system, comprising:

• a non-volatile memory;
• and
• a processor configured to:
• determine whether a previous boot of the information handling system was not successful while booting the information handling system;
• if the previous boot of the information handling system was not successful, then to determine whether current configuration settings of the information handling system have changed;
• and
• if the current configuration settings of the information handling system have changed, then to store the current configuration settings and flag the current configuration settings as bad;
• and
• apply a restore point with most recent known configuration settings to the information handling system.

A method comprising:

• determining, by a processor, while booting an information handling system, whether a previous boot of the information handling system was successful;
• in response to the determining that the previous boot of the information handling system was not successful, determining whether current configuration settings of the information handling system have changed;
• in response to the determining that the current configuration settings of the information handling system have changed, storing the current configuration settings and flagging the current configuration settings as bad;
• and
• applying a restore point with most recent known good configuration settings to the information handling system.
