Optical structure comprising a plurality of optical elements each configured to convert received light having a first polarization into output light having a second polarization focused to a common focal point

A head-mounted display (HMD) comprising:

• a display configured to emit light having at least one color of a plurality of colors;
• an optical structure configured to:
• optically correct for chromatic aberration for the plurality of colors using a plurality of optical elements in an optical series outputting light corrected for chromatic aberration in accordance with color correction instructions, the optical elements configured to receive the emitted light of the at least one color having a first polarization, each of the optical elements configured to:
• convert the received light having the first polarization into output light having a second polarization different from the first polarization, and
• focus the output light to a focal point, wherein the focal point depends on the first polarization and is common for the plurality of colors;
• and
• direct the optically corrected light to an eye-box region of the HMD corresponding to a location of an eye of a user of the HMD;
• and
• a controller configured to:
• generate the color correction instructions, and
• provide the color correction instructions to the plurality of optical elements.
