Spinal cord modulation for inducing paresthetic and anesthetic effects, and associated systems and methods

A method for configuring a patient treatment system to deliver a therapy signal to a target neural population at a patient's spinal cord, the method comprising:

• programming a signal generator of the patient treatment system to:
• generate bursts of low frequency pulses comprising at least one pair of pulses having the same polarity, wherein the at least one pair of pulses has a frequency between 2 Hz and 1.2 kHz;
• generate high frequency pulses between sequential bursts of the low frequency pulses, wherein the high frequency pulses have a frequency between 1.5 kHz and 50 kHz;
• and
• deliver the bursts of low frequency pulses and the high frequency pulses to the target neural population in cycles, wherein the high frequency pulses do not generate paresthesia when delivered to the target neural population.
