Treatment of respiratory conditions

A respirator treatment apparatus comprising:

• a housing;
• an inlet formed in the housing;
• a flow generator to produce a flow of breathable gas at a first flow rate, wherein the flow generator is positioned within the housing and is configured to draw air from an ambient environment through the inlet, wherein the blower includes an impeller to generate the flow of breathable gas;
• a gas supply that is coupled to the inlet upstream of the flow generator, the gas supply providing supplemental gas at the inlet that, when the impeller is running, is drawn into the flow generator and mixed by the impeller with the air from the ambient environment, wherein the flow of breathable gas generated by the flow generator comprises the supplemental gas mixed with the ambient air by the impeller;
• a humidifier in a path of the flow to humidify the breathable gas at a first humidity level;
• a processor configured to control automatic adjustments to the first flow rate of the flow generator and to control automatic adjustments to the first humidity level;
• a patient interface to deliver the flow of breathable gas to a patient, the patient interface including nasal inserts configured to be inserted into the patient's nares with gaps that permit a portion of the flow of breathable gas to leak from the patient's nares without being inspired;
• a delivery conduit to provide the flow of breathable gas to the patient interface, wherein the delivery conduit comprises:
• a heating element extending along a path of the flow of breathable gas to heat the breathable gas at a first temperature level,
• insulation material extending along the path of the flow of breathable gas to insulate the breathable gas, and
• a temperature sensor positioned at a patient end of the delivery conduit to provide a temperature signal indicating a temperature of the breathable gas;
• wherein the processor is further configured to control automatic adjustments to the first temperature level of the heating element based, at least in part, on the temperature signal from the temperature sensor.
