FABP4 as a therapeutic target in skin diseases

A method for treating or preventing a skin disease in a subject in need thereof having, in the skin thereof, keratinocytes or inflammatory cells that overexpress FABP4, said method comprising administering to said subject a therapeutically effective amount of at least one FABP4 inhibitor or a pharmaceutical composition thereof, wherein said skin disease is characterized by the presence, in the skin, of keratinocytes or inflammatory cells overexpressing FAPB4, and wherein said at least one FABP4 inhibitor each independently is selected from the group consisting of:

• wherein R1 and R2 each is H or halogen;
• and R3 is H or C1-4-alkyl;
• wherein R1 is H or halogen, R2 and R3 each is H or C1-4-alkyl;
• and Ar is phenyl or 2-theinyl;
• wherein R is H, C1-6-alkyl, C1-6-haloalkyl or C1-4-carboxylic acid;
• and X is O or NH;
• wherein n is an integer of 0-4;
• wherein X is halogen, C1-4alkyl or C1-4alkoxy;
• wherein X is halogen, C1-4alkyl or C1-4alkoxy;
• wherein n is an integer of 0-2;
• wherein R is C1-6-alkyl, C1-4-haloalkyl, C1-4-alkyl, CF3, CONH2 or halogen;
• and n is an integer of 1-2;
• wherein X is O or NOH;
• wherein n is an integer of 1-2;
• wherein R1 is H or C1-4alkyl;
• R2 is H, C1-4alkyl, C1-4alkoxy, halogen, NO2 or NH2;
• and R3 is H, C1-4alkyl, C1-4alkoxy, halogen or NO2;
• wherein X is selected from the group consisting of
• wherein R is C1-4alkyl, phenyl or fluorophenyl;
• or a salt, stereomer or hydrate thereof.
