Abstract
A knee prosthesis includes a femoral component, a tibial component, and a coupling component interconnecting the femoral component and the tibial component. The tibial component includes ball. The femoral component is configured to move relative to the tibial component. The coupling component defines an internal cavity including a first spherical end portion and a second spherical end portion. The internal cavity is dimensioned to receive the ball of the tibial component. The ball is repositioned between the first spherical end portion and the second spherical end portion of the internal cavity upon movement of the femoral component relative to the tibial component.

A kit for determining a preferred angular constraint of a knee prosthesis comprising:
- a tibial baseplate;
- a femoral component having a housing defining an internal cavity;
- a support post coupled to the tibial baseplate;
- and
- first and second stabilizing posts each having an inner surface, an outer surface and a thickness therebetween, the inner surface of each of the first and second stabilizing posts defining an inner channel extending from a first open end to a second closed end and having a minimum and maximum cross-section dimension therebetween, the outer surfaces of the first and second stabilizing posts being identically shaped, the minimum and maximum cross-sectional dimensions of the inner channel being the same for the first and second stabilizing posts, and the thickness of the first stabilizing post being smaller than the thickness of the second stabilizing post, the first and second stabilizing posts being alternatively couplable at a first end thereof to the tibial baseplate via the support post and configured to be received at a second end within the internal cavity of the femoral component, wherein the first and second stabilizing posts movably interconnect the femoral component to the tibial baseplate such that the knee prosthesis has a first angular constraint relative to the first stabilizing post and a second angular constraint relative to the second stabilizing post different than the first angular constraint.
A kit for determining a preferred angular constraint of a knee prosthesis, comprising:
- a tibial component having a tibial baseplate, a tibial insert, and a support post, the tibial insert having an opening extending therethrough and being fixedly secured to the tibial baseplate such that the tibial insert is prohibited from movement relative to the tibial baseplate during use, the support post extending from the tibial baseplate and through the opening of the tibial insert;
- a plurality of stabilizing posts each having an inner channel dimensioned to alternately receive the support post therein,
- wherein the inner channel has a constant diameter portion extending along at least a portion of the length of the inner channel, the constant diameter portion of the inner channel of a first stabilizing post having the same diameter as a constant diameter portion of the inner channel of a second stabilizing post, and
- wherein a first stabilizing post of the plurality of stabilizing posts is larger than a second stabilizing post of the plurality of stabilizing posts;
- and
- a femoral component having a housing configured to alternately receive the first and second post for articulation therewith.
A kit for determining a preferred angular constraint of a knee prosthesis comprising:
- a tibial baseplate;
- a femoral component having a housing defining an internal cavity;
- a support post couplable to the tibial baseplate so as to extend upwardly therefrom;
- and
- first and second stabilizing posts each having an inner surface and an outer surface, the first stabilizing post having a first thickness defined between the inner and outer surfaces thereof, the second stabilizing post having a second thickness defined between the inner and outer surfaces thereof and being different than the first thickness, the inner surface of each of the first and second stabilizing posts defining a channel configured to alternatively receive the support post, the inner channel having a diameter, the diameter of the inner channel of the first stabilizing post being the same as the diameter of the inner channel of the second stabilizing post, the outer surface of each of the first and second stabilizing posts having an articular geometry for articulating with the housing of the femoral component, wherein the first stabilizing post has the same articular geometry as the second stabilizing post.
