Abstract
The invention relates to biotechnology and provides novel recombinant DNA molecules and engineered proteins for conferring tolerance to protoporphyrinogen oxidase-inhibitor herbicides. The invention also provides herbicide tolerant transgenic plants, seeds, cells, and plant parts containing the recombinant DNA molecules, as well as methods of using the same.
Claims25
A recombinant DNA molecule comprising a heterologous promoter operably linked to a nucleic acid sequence encoding a protein that has at least 90% sequence identity to a polypeptide sequence selected from the group consisting of:
- SEQ ID NO:6 and SEQ ID NO:15, wherein the protein has herbicide-insensitive protoporphyrinogen oxidase activity, and wherein the heterologous promoter is functional in a plant cell.
