System and method for launch and recovery of a marine vessel

A capturing mechanism for the recovery of a vessel to at least one marine platform,

• wherein the vessel comprises an engagement device;
• wherein the capturing mechanism is connectable to the at least one marine platform;
• wherein the capturing mechanism comprises a tensioned capturing line connected to two movable connection elements, wherein the movable connection elements are horizontally and vertically movable;
• wherein the capturing mechanism is configured to place the tensioned capturing line under the surface of the water in a depth greater than the maximal depth of a keel of the vessel;
• wherein, when the vessel passes over the tensioned capturing line, the capturing mechanism is configured to make the contact with the keel of the vessel by raising the tensioned capturing line from a position under the surface of the water upwards to a position substantially out of the water;
• and
• wherein the capturing mechanism is configured to sweep the tensioned capturing line along a substantial portion of the hull of the vessel in the direction of the engagement device until the capturing line is engaged with the engagement device.
