A fatty acid decarboxylase comprising at least 70% sequence identity to SEQ ID NO:1 or 2, and an amino acid substitution at a position corresponding to G462 of SEQ ID NO:1, wherein the fatty acid decarboxylase has an improved butyric acid to propane decarboxylase activity compared to a fatty acid decarboxylase comprising SEQ ID NO:1.
