Abstract
A process that allows halogenation at the alpha-H position of alkylarenes, optionally further substituted on the aromatic or heteroaromatic ring, is described.
Claims11
A process for the preparation of alkylarenes selectively halogenated on the carbon atom of the alkyl substituent directly bonded to the aromatic or heteroaromatic ring by reaction of the respective non-halogenated alkylarene compound exclusively with trichloroisocyanuric acid in the presence of irradiation with visible light, in the total absence of solvents and any metal catalysts or chemical additives.
