Fire apparatus level indication system

A method for determining an operational capability of a vehicle, the method comprising:

• receiving, by a processing circuit from a sensor system, stability data regarding at least one of a slope, a grade, or a jackknife angle of the vehicle at a current location;
• determining, by the processing circuit, whether the at least one of the slope, the grade, or the jackknife angle are within an operational slope range, an operational grade range, and an operational jackknife angle range, respectively;
• providing, by the processing circuit, an indication that the vehicle is reconfigurable at the current location into a state whereby the vehicle is operable at the current location in response to determining that the at least one of the slope, the grade, or the jackknife angle are within the operational slope range, the operational grade range, and the operational jackknife angle range, respectively;
• and
• providing, by the processing circuit, an indication that the vehicle is not reconfigurable at the current location into a state whereby the vehicle is not operable at the current location in response to determining that one or more of the at least one of the slope, the grade, or the jackknife angle are within a nonoperational slope range, a nonoperational grade range, and a nonoperational jackknife angle range, respectively.

A leveling system for a vehicle, the leveling system comprising:

• a stabilization system including at least one of outriggers, downriggers, or a stability foot;
• a sensor system including at least one of:
• a stability sensor configured to acquire stability data regarding a stability characteristic of the vehicle at a current location;
• or
• a topography scanner configured to acquire scan data regarding a topography characteristic of an area around the vehicle at the current location;
• and
• a control system configured to provide an indication relating to whether the vehicle is at least partially operable at the current location based on at least one of the stability characteristic or the topography characteristic.

A leveling system for a vehicle, the leveling system comprising:

• a sensor system including at least one of:
• a stability sensor configured to acquire stability data regarding a stability characteristic of the vehicle at a current location;
• or
• a topography scanner configured to acquire scan data regarding a topography characteristic of an area around the vehicle at the current location;
• and
• a control system configured to:
• provide an indication relating to whether the vehicle is at least partially operable at the current location based on at least one of the stability characteristic or the topography characteristic;
• and
• in response to the stability characteristic being within a restricted range or a nonoperational range, determine whether the stability characteristic can be improved using a stabilization system of the vehicle from at least one of (i) the nonoperational range to the restricted range or (ii) the restricted range to an unrestricted range based on the at least one of the stability characteristic or the topography characteristic.

A leveling system for a vehicle, the leveling system comprising:

• a sensor system including at least one of:
• a stability sensor configured to acquire stability data regarding a stability characteristic of the vehicle at a current location;
• or
• a topography scanner configured to acquire scan data regarding a topography characteristic of an area around the vehicle at the current location;
• and
• a control system configured to:
• provide an indication relating to whether the vehicle is at least partially operable at the current location based on at least one of the stability characteristic or the topography characteristic;
• and
• facilitate unrestricted operation of at least one component of the vehicle in response to at least one of (i) the stability characteristic being within an unrestricted range or (ii) the stability characteristic being able to be improved using a stabilization system of the vehicle such that the stability characteristic is within the unrestricted range.

A leveling system for a vehicle, the leveling system comprising:

• a sensor system including at least one of:
• a stability sensor configured to acquire stability data regarding a stability characteristic of the vehicle at a current location;
• or
• a topography scanner configured to acquire scan data regarding a topography characteristic of an area around the vehicle at the current location;
• and
• a control system configured to:
• provide an indication relating to whether the vehicle is at least partially operable at the current location based on at least one of the stability characteristic or the topography characteristic;
• and
• partially restrict operation of at least one component of the vehicle in response to at least one of (i) the stability characteristic being within a restricted range or (ii) the stability characteristic being able to be improved using a stabilization system of the vehicle such that the stability characteristic is within the restricted range.

A leveling system for a vehicle, the leveling system comprising:

• a sensor system including at least one of:
• a stability sensor configured to acquire stability data regarding a stability characteristic of the vehicle at a current location;
• or
• a topography scanner configured to acquire scan data regarding a topography characteristic of an area around the vehicle at the current location;
• and
• a control system configured to:
• provide an indication relating to whether the vehicle is at least partially operable at the current location based on at least one of the stability characteristic or the topography characteristic;
• and
• prevent operation of at least one component of the vehicle in response to at least one of (i) the stability characteristic being within a nonoperational range or (ii) the stability characteristic not being able to be improved using a stabilization system of the vehicle such that the stability characteristic remains within the nonoperational range.
