Abstract
An animal trap apparatus having a collection of individual components is mounted onto a rim of a bucket and comprises a plank having a bait receiving end and a mounting end, with a fulcrum feature therebetween. The fulcrum feature may have a non-circular cross section. A bracket with a notch is received by the rim of the bucket while a receiving feature having an occluded open end is configured to receive the fulcrum feature. In use, the plank is configured to pivot about the fulcrum feature in a forward direction when an animal approaches the bait receiving end thereby placing the animal trap apparatus in a tripped condition whereby the bait receiving extends downwardly toward the closed bottom of the bucket and the animal falls into the cavity. The individual components may be formed of a food-grade material.
Claims10
An animal trap apparatus comprising a collection of individual components, said components comprising:
- a) a plank having a top surface, a bottom surface and opposing sides, said plank including a first end and a second end, with a fulcrum feature therebetween, wherein said fulcrum feature comprises a pair of opposing posts, a respective post of said opposing posts extending outwardly from a respective one of said opposing sides and including a non-circular cross section having a post width greater than a post height;
- and
- b) a bracket comprising first and second end braces and opposing first and second side panels, wherein said first and second end braces include respective first and second grooves and said first and second side panels include respective first and second end slots, wherein each of said side panels includes an edge having a respective post receiving feature, wherein each of said post receiving features defines a post opening having a post opening width, wherein each of said post openings includes a protrusion partially occluding said post opening and defining a narrowed opening width less than said post opening width, wherein said post receiving feature is configured to receive said fulcrum feature, wherein said width of said post opening is greater that said post width and said narrowed opening width of said post opening is less than said post width and greater than said post height, wherein said first and second end slots of said first side panel are configured to receive the respective first grooves of said first and second end braces, and wherein said first and second end slots of said second side panel are configured to receive the respective second grooves of said first and second end braces.
An animal trap apparatus comprising a collection of individual components, said components comprising:
- a) a plank having a top surface, a bottom surface and opposing sides, said plank including a first end, a second end, and a fulcrum feature positioned between said first end and said second end, wherein said fulcrum feature comprises a pair of opposing posts, a respective one of said opposing posts extending outwardly from a respective one of said opposing sides and including an oval or elliptical cross section having a post width greater than a post height;
- and
- b) a bracket comprising opposing first and second side panels, wherein each of said first and second side panels include an edge having a respective post receiving feature, wherein each said post receiving feature defines a circular post opening, a narrowed opening partially occluding said circular post opening, and an entry opening, wherein said entry opening is open to said respective side panel edge, wherein said circular post opening has a width D, said narrowed opening has a width W, and said entry opening has a width O, wherein said width W is less than said width D, and wherein said width W is less than said width O and wherein said post receiving feature is configured to receive said fulcrum feature,
- wherein said width D is greater than said post width, wherein said width W is less than said post width, and wherein said width W is greater than said post height.
