Relay for enhanced machine type communication and narrow band-internet of things

An apparatus for wireless communication, comprising:

• a memory;
• and
• at least one processor coupled to the memory and configured to:
• receive, at a user equipment (UE), repetition configuration information from a base station in direct communication with the UE;
• determine whether the base station is a relay node;
• and
• determine a repetition configuration for an access link or a direct link for communication between the base station and the UE based at least on the repetition configuration information and whether the base station is the relay node.

An apparatus for wireless communication, comprising:

• means for receiving, at a user equipment (UE), repetition configuration information from a base station in direct communication with the UE;
• means for determining whether the base station is a relay node;
• and
• means for determining a repetition configuration for an access link or a direct link for communication between the base station and the UE based at least on the repetition configuration information and whether the base station is the relay node.

A non-transitory computer-readable medium storing computer executable code, the code when executed by a processor cause the processor to:

• receive, at a user equipment (UE), repetition configuration information from a base station in direct communication with the UE;
• determine whether the base station is a relay node;
• and
• determine a repetition configuration for an access link or a direct link for communication between the base station and the UE based at least on the repetition configuration information and whether the base station is the relay node.
