Abstract
Example techniques relate to playback based on acoustic signals in a system including a first playback device and a second playback device. A first playback device may detect a user-spoken signal. The first playback device sends, to a network device, data corresponding to the detected user-spoken signal. The network device causes playback of the media item to be transferred to the first playback device such that the second playback device stops playing back a media item and the first playback device begins playing back the media item.
Claims36
A system comprising a first playback device and at least one network device, the first playback device comprising:
- at least one microphone;
- a first network interface;
- at least one first processor;
- and
- at least one first non-transitory computer-readable medium storing program instructions that are executable by the at least one first processor such that the first playback device is configured to perform first functions comprising:
- during playback of a media item by a second playback device, detecting, via the at least one microphone, a user-spoken signal;
- sending, to the at least one network device via the first network interface over a digital data network, data corresponding to the user-spoken signal;
- receiving, from the at least one network device via the first network interface, one or more first commands to begin playback of the media item;
- and
- playing back the media item after receiving the one or more first commands, wherein the at least one network device comprises:
- at least one second network interface;
- at least one second processor;
- and
- at least one second non-transitory computer-readable medium storing program instructions that are executable by the at least one second processor such that the at least one network device is configured to perform second functions comprising:
- receiving, from the first playback device, the data corresponding to the user-spoken signal;
- and
- in response to receiving the data corresponding to the user-spoken signal, causing playback of the media item to be transferred to the first playback device such that the second playback device stops playing back the media item and the first playback device begins playing back the media item, wherein causing playback of the media item to be transferred to the first playback device comprises sending, via the at least one second network interface to the first playback device, the one or more first commands to begin playback of the media item.
A system comprising a first playback device and a second playback device, the first playback device comprising:
- at least one microphone;
- a first network interface;
- at least one first processor;
- and
- at least one first non-transitory computer-readable medium storing program instructions that are executable by the at least one first processor such that the first playback device is configured to perform first functions comprising:
- during playback of a media item by the second playback device, detecting, via the at least one microphone, a user-spoken signal;
- sending, to at least one network device via the first network interface over a digital data network, data corresponding to the user-spoken signal;
- receiving, from the at least one network device via the first network interface, one or more first commands to begin playback of the media item;
- and
- playing back the media item after receiving the one or more first commands, wherein the second playback device comprises:
- a second network interface;
- at least one second processor;
- and
- at least one second non-transitory computer-readable medium storing second program instructions that are executable by the at least one second processor of the second playback device such that the second playback device is configured to perform second functions comprising:
- playing back the media item;
- receiving, via the second network interface, one or more second commands to stop playback of the media item;
- and
- stopping playback of the media item after receiving the one or more second commands.
A media playback system comprising at least one network device, the at least one network device comprising:
- at least one network interface;
- at least one processor;
- and
- at least one non-transitory computer-readable medium storing program instructions that are executable by the at least one processor such that the at least one network device is configured to perform functions comprising:
- during playback of a media item by a first playback device, receiving, over a digital data network, data corresponding to a user-spoken signal, wherein at least one microphone of a second playback device detected the user-spoken signal during the playback of the media item by the first playback device of the media playback system;
- and
- in response to receiving the data corresponding to the user-spoken signal, causing playback of the media item to be transferred to the second playback device such that the first playback device stops playing back the media item and the second playback device begins playing back the media item, wherein causing playback of the media item to be transferred to the second playback device comprises:
- sending, via the at least one network interface over the digital data network, one or more first commands to the second playback device to begin playback of the media item.
A media playback system comprising a first playback device, the first playback device comprising:
- at least one microphone;
- a network interface;
- at least one processor;
- and
- at least one non-transitory computer-readable medium storing program instructions that are executable by the at least one processor such that the first playback device is configured to perform functions comprising:
- during playback of a media item by a second playback device, detecting, via the at least one microphone, a user-spoken signal;
- and
- causing, by the first playback device, playback of the media item to be transferred to the first playback device such that the second playback device stops playing back the media item and the first playback device begins playing back the media item, wherein causing playback of the media item to be transferred comprises:
- sending, to at least one network device via the network interface over a digital data network, data corresponding to the user-spoken signal;
- receiving, via the network interface over the digital data network, one or more commands determined by the at least one network device based on the sent data corresponding to the user-spoken signal;
- and
- playing back the media item after receiving the one or more commands.
A first playback device comprising:
- at least one microphone;
- a network interface;
- at least one processor;
- and
- at least one non-transitory computer-readable medium storing program instructions that are executable by the at least one processor such that the first playback device is configured to perform functions comprising:
- during playback of a media item by a second playback device, detecting, via the at least one microphone, a user-spoken signal;
- and
- causing, by the first playback device, playback of the media item to be transferred to the first playback device such that the second playback device stops playing back the media item and the first playback device begins playing back the media item, wherein causing playback of the media item to be transferred comprises:
- sending, to at least one network device via the network interface over a digital data network, data corresponding to the user-spoken signal;
- receiving, via the network interface over the digital data network, one or more commands determined by the at least one network device based on the sent data corresponding to the user-spoken signal;
- and
- playing back the media item after receiving the one or more commands.
