Abstract
Example systems and methods for controlling an illumination source are described. An example apparatus for controlling an illumination source may include a memory and a processor implemented in circuitry and coupled to the memory. The processor may be configured to process a first frame captured by a video capture device when an illumination source is active, process a second frame captured by the video capture device when the illumination source is inactive, and compare the first frame and the second frame. The processor may also be configured to instruct the illumination source to be active or inactive, based on the comparison, for capture of a third frame by the video capture device.
Claims25
An apparatus for controlling an illumination source during a video capture session, comprising:
- a memory;
- and
- a processor implemented in circuitry and coupled to the memory, the processor configured to:
- process a first frame of video data captured by a video capture device when an illumination source is active;
- process a second frame of video data captured by the video capture device when the illumination source is inactive;
- capture a third frame of video data before or after capture of the first frame and capture of the second frame, wherein the first frame, the second frame, and the third frame are successive frames captured by the video capture device;
- include, as part of a video recording for playback, the third frame and not include, within the video recording, one and only one of the first frame or the second frame;
- compare the first frame and the second frame;
- and
- instruct the illumination source to be active or inactive, based on the comparison, for capture of a fourth frame of video data by the video capture device.
A method of controlling an illumination source during a video capture session, comprising:
- processing, by a processor, a first frame of video data captured by a video capture device when an illumination source is active;
- processing, by the processor, a second frame of video data captured by the video capture device when the illumination source is inactive;
- capturing a third frame of video data before or after capture of the first frame and capture of the second frame, wherein the first frame, the second frame, and the third frame are successive frames captured by the video capture device;
- including, as part of a video recording for playback, the third frame and not include, within the video recording, one and only one of the first frame or the second frame;
- comparing the first frame and the second frame;
- and
- instructing, by the processor, the illumination source to be active or inactive, based on the comparison, for capture of a fourth frame of video data by the video capture device.
A non-transitory, computer-readable medium storing instructions that, when executed by a processor of a device, cause the device to:
- process a first frame of video data captured by a video capture device when an illumination source is active;
- process a second frame of video data captured by the video capture device when the illumination source is inactive;
- capture a third frame of video data before or after capture of the first frame and capture of the second frame, wherein the first frame, the second frame, and the third frame are successive frames captured by the video capture device;
- include, as part of a video recording for playback, the third frame and not include, within the video recording, one and only one of the first frame or the second frame;
- compare the first frame and the second frame;
- and
- instruct the illumination source to be active or inactive, based on the comparison, for capture of a fourth frame of video data by the video capture device.
An apparatus for controlling an illumination source during a video capture session, comprising:
- means for processing a first frame of video data captured when an illumination source is active;
- means for processing a second frame of video data captured when the illumination source is inactive;
- means for capturing a third frame of video data before or after capture of the first frame and capture of the second frame, wherein the first frame, the second frame, and the third frame are successive frames captured by the video capture device;
- means for including, as part of a video recording for playback, the third frame and not include, within the video recording, one and only one of the first frame or the second frame;
- means for comparing the first frame and the second frame;
- and
- means for instructing the illumination source to be active or inactive, based on the comparison, for capture of a fourth frame of video data.
