Method and apparatus for transmitting data using a multi-carrier in a mobile communication system

A method performed by a base station in a wireless communication system, the method comprising:

• transmitting, to a terminal via a radio resource control (RRC) signaling, discontinuous reception (DRX) related information including a timer value related to an on-duration, a long DRX cycle value and a short DRX cycle value;
• and
• transmitting, to the terminal, control information with a zero bit payload, the control information including a logical channel identifier (LCID), the LCID identifying a type of the control information,
• wherein a DRX cycle is configured with the long DRX cycle value by the terminal, in case that the control information is associated with a long DRX,
• wherein the DRX cycle is configured with the short DRX cycle value by the terminal, in case that the control information is associated with a short DRX, and
• wherein the long DRX and the short DRX are configured with the timer value related to the on-duration included in the DRX related information.

A terminal in a wireless communication system, the terminal comprising:

• a transceiver;
• and
• a controller coupled with the transceiver and configured to:
• receive, from a base station via a radio resource control (RRC) signaling, discontinuous reception (DRX) related information including a timer value related to an on-duration, a long DRX cycle value and a short DRX cycle value,
• receive, from the base station, control information with a zero bit payload, the control information including a logical channel identifier (LCID), the LCID identifying a type of the control information,
• identify the type of the control information based on the LCID,
• configure a DRX cycle with the long DRX cycle value, in case that the control information is associated with a long DRX, and
• configure the DRX cycle with the short DRX cycle value, in case that the control information is associated with a short DRX,
• wherein the long DRX and the short DRX are configured with the timer value related to the on-duration included in the DRX related information.

A base station in a wireless communication system, the base station comprising:

• a transceiver;
• and
• a controller configured to:
• transmit, to a terminal via a radio resource control (RRC) signaling, discontinuous reception (DRX) related information including a timer value related to an on-duration, a long DRX cycle value and a short DRX cycle value, and
• transmit, to the terminal, control information with a zero bit payload, the control information including a logical channel identifier (LCID), the LCID identifying a type of the control information,
• wherein a DRX cycle is configured with the long DRX cycle value by the terminal, in case that the control information is associated with a long DRX,
• wherein the DRX cycle is configured with the short DRX cycle value by the terminal, in case that the control information is associated with a short DRX, and
• wherein the long DRX and the short DRX are configured with the timer value related to the on-duration included in the DRX related information.
