Flip flop circuit and method of operating the same

A flip-flop circuit, comprising:

• a first latch configured to, based on at least a first signal and in response to a clock signal, generate a second signal;
• a trigger circuit coupled with the first latch and configured to generate a third signal based on at least a fourth signal, the third signal having a first voltage swing or a second voltage swing different from the first voltage swing, the first voltage swing being between a first voltage and a second voltage different from the first voltage, the second voltage swing being between the first voltage and a third voltage different from the first voltage and the second voltage;
• and
• a second latch coupled with the trigger circuit and configured to, based on the third signal and in response to the clock signal, generate the fourth signal.

A method of operating a flip-flop circuit, the method comprising:

• setting, by a first latch of the flip-flop circuit, a first latch output signal based on at least a first latch input signal and a clock signal;
• and
• generating, by a trigger circuit, a second latch input signal based on at least the first latch output signal, a second latch output signal or the clock signal, the generating the second latch input signal comprising:
• setting the trigger circuit to cause the second latch input signal to have a first voltage swing or a second voltage swing based on at least the second latch output signal, and the first voltage swing being different from the second voltage swing, the first voltage swing being between a first voltage and a second voltage different from the first voltage, the second voltage swing being between the first voltage and a third voltage different from the first voltage and the second voltage.
