Abstract
A method, system, and medium are provided for optimizing a user experience based on periodicity modifications. In embodiments, when a large volume of UE are located in a particular sector of a cell site, the periodicity of a synchronization block transmitted from a base station may be adjusted in order to change a rate or speed of on-loading user equipment at the cell site. In some embodiments, by shortening the periodicity of a synchronization block, user equipment may be more quickly on-loaded to a wireless network at the cell site.

A method of optimizing a user experience based on periodicity modifications, the method comprising:
- transmitting one or more synchronization signals using a first periodicity;
- determining that a quantity of synchronization signal detection failures meets a threshold;
- determining a second periodicity that is different from the first periodicity;
- and
- in response to determining that the quantity of synchronization signal detection failures meets the threshold, subsequently transmitting one or more additional synchronization signals using the second periodicity.
Computer-readable storage media having computer-executable instructions embodied thereon that, when executed by one or more processors, cause the processors to:
- transmit a first plurality of synchronization signals using a first periodicity, the first plurality of synchronization signals for receipt by one or more UE that are capable of using a first access technology;
- determine that a first quantity of synchronization signal detection failures meets a threshold based on the first plurality of synchronization signals transmitted;
- determine a second periodicity based on a total quantity of the one or more UE that are capable of using the first access technology, the second periodicity being a repeatable time interval that is shorter in duration than the first periodicity;
- transmit a second plurality of synchronization signals using the second periodicity;
- and
- monitor a second quantity of synchronization signal detection failures based on the second plurality of synchronization signals transmitted.
A system comprising:
- one or more hardware processors that:
- transmit a first plurality of synchronization signals using a first periodicity, the first plurality of synchronization signals for receipt by one or more UE that are capable of using a first access technology;
- determine that a first quantity of synchronization signal detection failures meets a threshold based on the first plurality of synchronization signals transmitted;
- determine a second periodicity based on a total quantity of the one or more UE that are capable of using the first access technology, the second periodicity being a repeatable time interval that is shorter in duration than the first periodicity;
- transmit a second plurality of synchronization signals using the second periodicity;
- and
- monitor a second quantity of synchronization signal detection failures based on the second plurality of synchronization signals transmitted.
