Annotation of event data to include access interface identifiers for use by downstream entities in a distributed data processing system

A computer system comprising:

• a communication device;
• and
• a processor configured to:
• receive, via the communication device, machine data representing an event that took place on a computer network;
• and
• annotate raw event data of the event to include a view identifier, the view identifier enabling a downstream entity, by designating the view identifier, to receive particular information about the event, through an access interface identified by the view identifier,
• wherein the access interface extracts the particular information from and/or generates the particular information based on the event data.

A non-transitory machine-readable storage medium for use in a processing system, the non-transitory machine-readable storage medium storing instructions, an execution of which in the processing system causes the processing system to perform operations comprising:

• receiving machine data representing an event that took place on a computer network;
• and
• annotating raw event data of the event to include a view identifier, the view identifier enabling a downstream entity, by designating the view identifier, to receive particular information about the event, through an access interface identified by the view identifier,
• wherein the access interface extracts the particular information from and/or generates the particular information based on the event data.
