Abstract
Aspects described herein include a method and associated processing system for a display having a plurality of pixels. The method comprises driving, using display circuitry, a plurality of pixels of a display device to display one or more test patterns. The display device is integrated into a manufactured input device. The method further comprises receiving field-set mura compensation data that is based on one or more images of the plurality of pixels. The one or more images are acquired responsive to displaying the one or more test patterns. The method further comprises writing the field-set mura compensation data to a memory of the input device. The field-set mura compensation data replaces or is stored along with factory-set mura compensation data.
Claims20
A processing system for a display having an active area defined by a plurality of pixels, the processing system comprising:
- a non-volatile memory configured to store factory-set mura compensation data for the display;
- and
- display driver circuitry configured to:
- receive one or more control signals via a communicative link with an external processor that is external to the processing system;
- drive the plurality of pixels to display one or more test patterns in accordance with timing specified by the one or more control signals;
- receive, from the external processor, field-set mura compensation data for the plurality of pixels, the field-set mura compensation data based on one or more images of the plurality of pixels that are acquired responsive to displaying the one or more test patterns;
- wherein the processing system is configured to:
- receive an input via a user interface (UI) provided in the active area configured to display the UI and a touch interface in the active area configured to receive the input;
- responsive to receiving the input, write the field-set mura compensation data into the non-volatile memory;
- and
- drive, by the display driver circuitry, the plurality of pixels to display an image using the field-set mura compensation data instead of using the factory-set mura compensation data.
A method comprising:
- driving, using display circuitry, a plurality of pixels defining an active area of a display device to display one or more test patterns;
- receiving field-set mura compensation data that is based on one or more images of the plurality of pixels, the one or more images acquired responsive to displaying the one or more test patterns;
- driving the plurality of pixels to display a user interface (UI) in the active area;
- receiving an input via the UI by a touch interface in the active area;
- responsive to receiving the input, writing the field-set mura compensation data to a memory of the display device, wherein the field-set mura compensation data replaces factory-set mura compensation data;
- and
- writing a backup copy of the factory-set mura compensation data into a memory external to the display circuitry.
A method comprising:
- transmitting, from an external processor that is external to a manufactured input device, one or more control signals that configure the input device to display one or more test patterns using a display device integrated into the input device, wherein the display device drives a plurality of pixels defining an active area of the display device to display the one or more test patterns in accordance with timing specified by the one or more control signals;
- acquiring, using a visual sensor coupled with the external processor, one or more images of the display device responsive to displaying the one or more test patterns;
- generating field-set mura compensation data that is based on the acquired one or more images;
- transmitting the field-set mura compensation data to the input device;
- driving the plurality of pixels to display a user interface (UI) in the active area;
- receiving an input via the UI by a touch interface in the active area;
- and
- responsive to receiving the input, transmitting a control signal to configure the display device to use the field-set mura compensation data.
