Abstract
Implementations for masking for mitigating visual contrast of a camera region of a display are described. Generally, the described techniques provide ways for mitigating visual differences between a camera region and other regions of a display. For instance, visual masks can be generated and displayed overlapping and/or peripherally to a camera region of a display to smooth a visual transition between the camera region and other regions of the display. The masks, for example, are displayed in regions of the display that surround the camera region. Further, color attributes of the masks can be configured to provide a gradual visual transition from color output at the camera region to color output at other regions of the display.
Claims20
An apparatus comprising:
- a housing;
- a camera affixed within the housing;
- a display attached to the housing and positioned above the camera, the display including a camera region positioned to enable light transmission to the camera, and one or more peripheral regions adjacent the camera region;
- and
- a mask module implemented at least in part in hardware of the apparatus to:
- determine that an output condition occurs pertaining to the camera region of the display;
- generate one or more masks for display in the one or more peripheral regions and based on the output condition pertaining to the camera region;
- and
- cause the one or more masks to be displayed in the one or more peripheral regions of the display.
A method comprising:
- determining that an output condition occurs pertaining to a camera region of a display;
- generating one or more masks for display in one or more peripheral regions that are peripheral to the camera region, wherein said generating is based on the output condition pertaining to the camera region;
- and
- causing the one or more masks to be displayed in the one or more peripheral regions of the display.
A method comprising:
- tracking an output usage of a camera region of a display to generate output usage values for the camera region;
- comparing the output usage values to one or more usage thresholds defined for the camera region of the display;
- determining that an output usage value corresponds to a particular usage threshold of the one or more usage thresholds;
- and
- performing an action to mitigate visual contrast between the camera region and other regions of the display.
