Storage system query mechanism and techniques

A system for processing control path data in a storage array, comprising:

• a memory;
• and
• at least one processing device, coupled to the memory, operative to implement the following steps:
• in response to a user request:
• obtaining an object model (OM) data object comprising retrieved control path data, wherein the retrieved control path data comprises data about a given device;
• and
• storing said OM data object in a cache using one or more façade data classes generated from an application object model;
• employing a refresh service to (i) register for one or more notifications from a storage array, (ii) monitor cache refresh events from the storage array that impact a validity of said OM data object, and (iii) evict said OM data object from said cache in response to said validity of said OM data object being impacted by one of said cache refresh events;
• and
• in response to a subsequent user request:
• delivering said OM data object from said cache in response to said OM data object remaining in said cache at a time of said subsequent user request.

A computer program product for processing control path data in a storage array, comprising a tangible machine-readable storage medium having encoded therein executable code of one or more software programs, wherein the one or more software programs when executed by at least one processing device perform the following steps:

• in response to a user request:
• obtaining an object model (OM) data object comprising retrieved control path data, wherein the retrieved control path data comprises data about a given device;
• and
• storing said OM data object in a cache using one or more façade data classes generated from an application object model;
• employing a refresh service to (i) register for one or more notifications from a storage array, (ii) monitor cache refresh events from the storage array that impact a validity of said OM data object, and (iii) evict said OM data object from said cache in response to said validity of said OM data object being impacted by one of said cache refresh events;
• and
• in response to a subsequent user request:
• delivering said OM data object from said cache in response to said OM data object remaining in said cache at a time of said subsequent user request.
