Abstract
A ferrule with fiber holes includes: a resin-molded portion molded by a resin; and a reinforcement member embedded in the resin-molded portion and that has a smaller linear expansion coefficient than the resin-molded portion. The reinforcement member includes fiber insertion portions that are parallel to the fiber holes. The fiber holes are formed by the resin that entered the fiber insertion portions.
Claims6
A ferrule having fiber holes, the ferrule comprising:
- a resin-molded portion molded by a resin;
- and
- a reinforcement member embedded in the resin-molded portion and that has a smaller linear expansion coefficient than the resin-molded portion, wherein
- the reinforcement member includes fiber insertion portions,
- each of the fiber insertion portions is a through hole surrounding one fiber hole, and
- each of the fiber holes and a corresponding one of the fiber insertion portions are separated by the resin such that a diameter of each of the fiber holes is smaller than a diameter of a corresponding one of the fiber insertion portions.

An optical-fiber-equipped ferrule comprising:
- a ferrule having fiber holes;
- and
- optical fibers inserted in the respective fiber holes, wherein:
- the ferrule includes:
- a resin-molded portion molded by a resin;
- and
- a reinforcement member embedded in the resin-molded portion and that has a smaller linear expansion coefficient than the resin-molded portion,
- the reinforcement member includes fiber insertion portions,
- each of the fiber insertion portions is a through hole surrounding one fiber hole, and
- each of the fiber holes and a corresponding one of the fiber insertion portions are separated by the resin such that a diameter of each of the fiber holes is smaller than a diameter of a corresponding one of the fiber insertion portions.
