Cationic-stabilized dispersions, hybridized cationic-stabilized dispersions, in-mold coated articles prepared utilizing such stabilized dispersions, and methods for manufacturing same

A cationic-stabilized dispersion formulation for use in fabricating an in-mold coated article, comprising:

• a primary solvent, wherein the primary solvent is present in a concentration ranging from approximately 2 percent by weight to approximately 50 percent by weight;
• a secondary solvent, wherein the secondary solvent is present in a concentration ranging from approximately 0.5 percent by weight to approximately 10 percent by weight;
• a pH modifier, wherein the pH modifier is present in a concentration ranging from approximately 0.1 percent by weight to approximately 5 percent by weight;
• a defoaming agent, wherein the defoaming agent is present in a concentration ranging from approximately 0.1 percent by weight to approximately 5 percent by weight;
• a taber additive, wherein the taber additive is present in a concentration ranging from approximately 0.5 percent by weight to approximately 10 percent by weight;
• a substrate wetting agent, wherein the substrate wetting agent is present in a concentration ranging from approximately 0.1 percent by weight to approximately 5 percent by weight;
• a rheology modifier, wherein the rheology modifier is present in a concentration ranging from approximately 0.1 percent by weight to approximately 5 percent by weight;
• a matting agent, wherein the matting agent is present in a concentration ranging from approximately 0.1 percent by weight to approximately 10 percent by weight;
• and
• a cationic chitosan polymer, wherein the cationic chitosan polymer is present in a concentration ranging from approximately 0.1 percent by weight to approximately 10 percent by weight.
